My first morning home started off quietly - too quietly. Miles got up early to go to the gym; I got up to check my email. I was just getting used to the idea and was listening for the sound of the van driving off. It did not come. I looked outside and found him underneath the dash. The van would not start. It would not even turn over. Poor Husband. He patiently tried jumping the front battery from the back one, but that was not the problem. He resigned himself to the fact that he would work out later in the day and I searched out my BCAA card dreading asking about our 4th or 5th tow this year. I think they should have a punch card - we would qualify for a frequent user freebie by now! Before I dialed I ‘gently’ suggested he call our landlord who is as inclined toward anything mechanical on a vehicle as Miles is on computers. This relationship works well for both of them. Elroy came down and together they explored some possibilities. Eventually they managed to get the van to start. Thank the Lord. I am SO grateful this did not happen on our trip home. Miles has an important business appointment later this morning and this would have been a big setback.

our van - stuffed for the trip home
This all threw my little mental schedule into a frenzy, so I did nothing at all. I just enjoyed the first few hours of the morning having coffee and installing some new fonts.
There are some amazing new fonts for download at www.dafont.com Later, when Miles finally did get away, I spent an hour and a half tidying up our patio and tiny garden area. Several Black Widow spiders lost their home and egg sacs during my clean sweep (ugh! they are beautiful spiders but I would hate to get bit!) I trimmed back all the plants and pulled out the stubborn grasses which threatened to overtake. I brought some sunflowers and mint to bring a splash of color into the house. As the evenings may cool off a bit I thought to make the patio area a romantic spot for Miles and I to enjoy in the evening. I will set up chairs and a small table and use the new candle holders our sister Michelle sent us home with.
By noon I had done two sets of sit ups. I know I had these grand visions of working out on vacation, but that did not happen. Mom fed us so good that I’m sure I’ve gained several pounds - actually scared to look! Now that I am home again I will hopefully stick to a healthier schedule of eating and excersize. Can I challenge you all? Any good ideas to whip me back into shape? I will indulge in a serving of my favorite Hawkins Cheesies and a Drumstick Ice Cream while I await your answer.
The end of a most satisfying day. Somehow everything got put away in it’s proper place except for some clothes which I plan to SORT while tackling that task. I plan to make sure the thrift store comes away with several of the items. I was getting awfully tired of wearing the same wardrobe for two months!

Spice it Up!
I love the opportunity to try out a new spice or flavor and so I keep my eyes out when looking through the newspaper or actually visiting the websites of product companies when they advertise on tv. The following site is one for seasoning packages for Oriental dishes. Once you are at the site, you can sign up to have a FREE seasoning package mailed to you - US and Canada! Enjoy!
